Nowadays, it is very difficult to find a marketing professional who has not memorized the 4 Ps of Marketing. After all, whether you are someone who works in the field or a beginner, everyone who ventures into this world must keep this in mind when developing any campaign.
As it is part of the routine, it is clear that this can go unnoticed. But, any material on digital marketing today works with the concepts that we will explain in this text.
However, as you can see in the title, we can go further. The evolution of the strategies we apply in our field of activity is constant, and this is present even in fundamental concepts.
This is because our area of activity is also related to public behavior. Thus, having to adapt to changes in consumption and the market, that is, attention, supply and demand become fundamental.
To remember: what are the 4 Ps of Marketing?
As we have seen, as it is a routine concept, present in the daily lives of many professionals, it can go unnoticed. This also affects those who are learning. Because, when seeking knowledge, you come across new information about it and do not have access to the basics of the concept.
Therefore, I brought you, the definition of something that should be today, the marketing mantra. Follow along!
1. Product
When thinking about a product you must keep in mind what you are actually selling. To do this, during the development of your marketing campaign you need to have the following information at hand:
- The concept of your product;
- What is the function of the item;
- What does your appearance look like?
- What does it provide for your client;
- What is his name?
In other words, it is what your company has to offer. This is what can determine the success or failure of a business. Even knowing that there are other impact factors, the product is what is expected from the company.
2. Price
Self-explanatory, the price is how much your product can cost to the customer who is interested in your item.
However, here we do not only analyze monetarily, but we also attribute the added value to your solution. In other words, in addition to the production cost and profit on the item, you need to analyze the public’s disposition, how much they expect your product to cost.
3. Square
How does your customer reach you?
This is an important question in digital marketing. That's why in the third “P” we talk about place, that is, how your product is presented on the market.
Here, we analyze your audience’s adaptability to certain purchasing methods. This way, we discover what behaviors and how to best deliver your solution.
4. Promotion
If you see the promotion of a solution as a sale or discounts on its monetary value, that’s not exactly the case.
In fact, this step is seen as how information about your product will reach the customer, i.e. how it will be promoted to reach your target audience.
8 Ps of Marketing and changes in the sector
As we saw at the beginning of this article, digital marketing is constantly evolving and today we can see an extension of the 4Ps of Marketing, moving on to other aspects without abandoning its roots.
The 8 Ps add complements that indicate a need to deepen the strategies we discussed previously. Today, there is a greater demand for product information, as well as new paths to be taken in the marketing sector.
Therefore, the new Ps of marketing include:
People
As noted in the other 8 Ps of Marketing concepts, reaching your audience is of utmost importance. Over time, it was found that this task can be accomplished with excellence if we have more information about your potential client.
Therefore, the study of people's behavior has become one of the most essential 8 Ps. Well, it is through this step that we can define all the others already mentioned.
Processes
The methodologies applied in the development, both of the product and its dissemination, is another aspect that makes up the 8 Ps of marketing. This is because the procedures used in the production of a given product can define the experience that the user will have with the brand.
Therefore, this is another concept of the 8 Ps that addresses the behavior, desires and desires of the people who will consume your product or service. However, it is important to highlight that here we also cover internal methodologies, such as responsibility, hierarchy and many other concepts.
Posicionamento
In branding strategies, for example, the positioning of a brand becomes essential to increase public engagement and company recognition. This is why this concept is part of the 8 Ps of Marketing, after all, this is where we determine the relationship that the company will have with its customer.
However, we still approach the concept in a strategic way, which would work here for product positioning and the sales pitch.
Economical performance
Finally, performance is the pillar that determines the success of your product or service. It is through previously established KPIs that we define productivity, profitability and, from this, we obtain proof of success or points of improvement for processes, products and other stages.
Did you already know about the addition of these concepts and the development of the 8 Ps of Marketing? I hope I helped you delve a little deeper into these ideas!
