What are prompts? Learn the best ones to use on ChatGPT in 2024
There’s no point in trying to swim against the tide of technology. Sooner or later, your colleagues, employees, yourself or your competitors will turn to artificial intelligence. Whether it’s to optimize processes, reduce production time or improve deliveries, ChatGPT has taken on an important role in many companies.
The problem is that, although this tool is indeed very useful, many users are still not prepared enough to extract the full potential of the platform.
Therefore, for ChatGPT to generate good results, the user needs to know how to issue commands in order to force the artificial intelligence to think and deliver what is proposed.
That's why it's so important not to be general or unspecific when giving instructions for the platform. After all, the chat doesn't have the same level of context that's in the user's mind.
In this sense, the most assiduous users have studied the mechanisms of ChatGPT and created methods for the platform to deliver the desired results.
As an example, today we understand that there are better and worse ways to develop a prompt for the platform.
But, if you don't know what prompts are, how they work or how to develop a good prompt for your text, calm down, because in this article, we will explain what you need to give good commands to generative artificial intelligence.
generative artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence itself is not that new. The big news at the moment, which we are still learning how to use and refine, is generative artificial intelligence. This is because, until now, the tools were used for data processing and treatment.
ChatGPT, launched in 2022, works using generative artificial intelligence. This means that the tool is developed to simulate the human learning method.
In other words, generative AI works to process large amounts of information and translate it into a natural conversation between humans.
And from this interaction with users, artificial intelligence continues to relearn its responses and forms of interaction. Thus, we call this process machine learning
What are prompts?
Prompts are the commands and instructions that the user provides to ChatGPT to stimulate the artificial intelligence to generate the best results.
In this sense, there are several ways to give commands to the chat. But in general, the tool tends to generate more efficient results for direct, simple prompts, but with details about what you want.
Give ChatGPT enough context:
Remember that the platform does not yet absorb information posted on the internet in real time. In other words, certain topics and events are not yet updated in the ChatGPT database.
Therefore, when creating a prompt for the platform, invest time in providing context, dialoguing and asking questions in the chat. A good way to start an interaction is by asking if the chat is familiar with a certain concept, company, idea and so on.
For example, if we at Beatz wanted to make a post for our LinkedIn, a good start would be to ask: “Do you know the Beatz agency?” and if the platform generates any incorrect information, don’t hesitate to correct it!
Don't stop the prompt at the first answer
Following the previous example, after checking what the chat knows about our agency, we can start to deepen its knowledge about what we do.
This way, we generate context for the system to provide good answers. Thus, we can continue our prompts by informing the types of customers we serve, the impact we want to make, the image we want to convey, etc.
Given all this information, you can finally ask artificial intelligence to generate a text with a greater chance of obtaining a satisfactory response.
Delimit the prompts
Now that you know the importance of giving context to the chat, here's another super valuable tip: to obtain even more refined results that are compatible with what you want, specify the size or platform on which you intend to publish your material.
In other words, tell the chat that you want text adapted for LinkedIn or a radio spot, for example.
Another way to do this is by limiting the number of words or characters that the artificial intelligence must reach. If you want text to be printed on a t-shirt, for example, you can create a prompt asking for a sentence with up to 5 words.
Use prompts to force AI creativity
As mentioned in the previous topic, restricting the operation of artificial intelligence is a way of making it seek more information and ways to communicate it.
So, another way to force ChatGPT to develop creative texts is to ask for more options than you actually need. For example:
If you need a subject line for your email, ask them to come up with 5 suggestions that convey the tone of voice you want. It could be creative, formal, interesting, impactful, and so on.
How they can help you
The advantage of having prompts up your sleeve is that the use of artificial intelligence becomes much more fluid. This way, you already know the path to follow to get the answers you want.
Another interesting solution is that ChatGPT can be divided into tabs, which are saved on the platform. This way, if you have already built up a repertoire on a topic, providing context for the chat, you won't need to go through that process again. Just go to the same tab and start chatting with the chat, which has previously absorbed the context.
